Calathea zebrina, commonly called the Zebra plant, is one of the most recognizable Calathea species thanks to its striking striped leaves. Each broad, velvety leaf features alternating light and dark green bands, resembling the pattern of zebra stripes. With its upright habit and large foliage, it makes a bold statement in living rooms, kitchens, or bathrooms with filtered daylight. Like other prayer plants, its leaves follow the natural day–night rhythm, folding upward at night and spreading wide by day. Thriving in evenly moist soil, high humidity, and indirect light, this plant adds both exotic texture and tropical charm to interiors.
